Glass "Moon Rocks" Make Interesting Materials

Named "Moon Rocks," these beads just explode with creativity! Irregular dimpled lumps of glass that have an opalescence light-capturing personality that literally takes light hostage and won't let it go! They are a white translucent glass with cognac circles and when light glows through them the light is much like a warm, light Brandy.

One can get lost in beads. They are all so different and I look for beads with extrovert personalities that will give life to my designs and say "look at me!."

Tools!

Adding tools and equipment a little at a time is about the only way I can get the items I need to proceed with some things I desire to do with creating jewelry.

Polymer Clay is something that is intriguing. After working on it with only the very basics and some "found objects" as tools, I was able to purchase a couple of great things! And, I either had fabulous coupons or they were on sale. Even better!

Craft oven, pasta machine, and tumbler -- Yes! Yes! Yes!

Boxed

Has anyone made cute handmade boxes?

I have wanted to try to make them for a while and even saved catalogs and magazines with great covers in heavy paper to use for them.

Yesterday, I receive a rather large Thanksgiving card. There it was on my desk staring at me. As I was defragging my hard drive (kind of like watching paint dry), I noticed the card and thought that it would make a good test box, a tiny test box. I had the time.

Making the box was so easy using the tutorials and the video. I see that magazine cover paper weight woud be best. But, here are some photos of my very first TEST box! I am inspired!

Tools of the Trade AND Some Bling

Today was an exciting day!! When I order supplies, I always look forward to receiving the items, but it can take days to get here. In addition, I had to order those unglamorous "tools of the trade" rather than a lot of bling. I much prefer Bling!

However, while surfing the Etsy.com "time machine" the other day, I came across this gorgeous chain that I had to have - I mean: h-a-d to h-a-v-e. It was calling my name. A full 18" of silverplate glory!! And it came today! From a great Etsy Seller anasupplies.etsy.com, I can't tell you enough how shiny gorgeous it is. It is real blinding BLING.




















I had in mind mixing it with other chain styles and elements to design a contemporary necklace, but frankly, I may just put a clasp on it and throw it on my own neck! It is a "wowza" chain design with an awesome finish.




















I also got my box of seemingly uninteresting "tools of the trade." Now that I see them all, I am excited about all the potential that these tools in the box represent.

Items for working with beads, wire work, and polymer clay are going to join my expanding studio of tricks. What an exciting day!

HUGE Hematite Barrel Beads-Awesome!!

Wowee! I saw these Hematite (REAL Hematite) barrel beads and fell in love. *swoon*

They are huge by bead standards. I did not know what I would do with them but I just had to have them.

The creative recipe included a shank of neckwire and a bowl huge faux pearls to make a contemporary and modern neckpiece.
