Unloading History

I try to designate a part of Fridays as GalleriaLinda day, where I do things for the business that take time, such as listing, making jewelry, setting up social networking, etc…

And, so it was today too. I had BIG aggressive plans to dig in to shift the storage of my consulting business things and integrate my
GalleriaLinda business supplies and files. Yesterday I started and pulled two rooms apart into a crumpled mess each.

Murphy’s Law said, “Uh…let’s give her more!!” This morning, the dining room carpet sloshed. Yes, sloshed. Bottom line: leak in water pipe in the wall.

While that in itself is stressful, we have a huge antique corner cupboard from my husband’s family that was loaded with antique glass, crystal, and china. Of course, it was on the wet wall. Of course. (Wouldn't it be great for craft storage)?!

Having to unload and move the cabinet was a lot of work. But, more than that, it gave me a chance to again see and touch family history.

What a joy it was to reacquaint myself with the beautiful items that brought so much contentment and love at family dinners so long ago. China and crystal from three families glistened haphazardly on their new perch.

Always look for the silver lining in the face of adversity, because it is always there.

  1. Linda,
Your attitude and out-look on the whole ugly incident is admirable! Bless your heart. That antique cabinet is gorgeous!! It doesn't look like it got ruined too badly (at least I hope not) how's the back? It is fun going through treasures that we just seldom glance at and not actually handle too often, isn't it? I love doing that also. I'm such a sentimental person. *smiles* Sounds like you are too. I'm so sorry this happened to you. I hope it all comes together for you without too much hassle.
Sending you lots of hugs and good thoughts!
    Tracey
